Christiana Chery

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved matriarch Christiana Napoleon Chery, better known as ‘Granma’. Granma was born on January 9,1923 in Thomazeau Haiti. She was the eldest of three children of the late Ismerone Napoleon and Pauline Florestal. On the early morning of Wednesday May 10, 2023, she passed away peacefully at home in front of her loving daughter Claudia and son-in-love Wilson of natural causes. Granma was well known for being quiet but stern, praying the rosary every day, joking around with her grandchildren and having a big heart with open arms to all. You could not visit Granma without her making sure you ate and her praying for your wellbeing and success. In her early years she worked in the church as a cook where she was introduced to her late husband, Anthony Chery. After marriage they later had nine children and became a homemaker. She was a devout follower of the Catholic church, raising her children to be strong, resilient followers of Christ. In August 1988, she migrated to Stamford, CT to assist in caring for her grandchildren instilling the same qualities in them. Throughout this time, she was a member of both Sacred Heart Church and the Haitian Community of Stamford, CT. She is survived by her eight children--Veronique, Michel, Adrian, Claudia, Comas, Louis, Anna and Marie Therese—17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren as well as her younger sister Penelope Joseph and family. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony ‘Boss Tony’ Chery, her younger brother Gerard Napoleon and her daughter Paulette Chery. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Granma had countless bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren that she tended to and took care of throughout her life. She was loved immensely by all that experienced her. And will forever be missed. Visitation will be on Friday, June 9th from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am on Saturday, June 10th at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Her burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Hecker Avenue Darien, CT.
