Mary Grace DeRose

Mary Grace DeRose, age 87, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024 after a short medical stay at Edgehill Rehabilitative Care Center. Born on June 18, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Betty (Marino) Franchina. She graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1955. Upon graduation she was a bookkeeper for White Tower Management and was an accomplished pitcher on the company softball team. She married Joseph R. DeRose in June 1960 and together they raised three children. Mary Grace went on to work for the insurance firm of Casolo Friedman Paspalis & Company in Stamford, CT and John M. Glover Insurance Agency in Norwalk, CT until her retirement in 2009. She had fond memories with her coworkers over these years. Mary Grace was full of life and enjoyed gardening, crafting, and traveling. She traveled throughout Europe and took numerous trips to the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Mexico with her sister and close friends. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and proudly cheered them on during dance recitals, ice hockey and baseball/softball games, and theater productions. She was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball fan and rarely missed viewing a game. She was an honorary member of the Little Church and an active member of St. Leo Seniors. She is survived by her husband and her three children, Denise Theriault and her husband David, Darren DeRose and his wife Christine, and Diane DeRose; her beloved grandchildren, Lindsey Theriault and her husband Joseph Flaherty, Matthew Theriault, and Andrew DeRose. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Joann Colangelo, her niece and goddaughter Carol Provenzano, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she cherished. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11 am at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Road in Stamford, CT.
