Deborah Johnson

Deborah Elaine Johnson was born on February 8,1956 to Doris Mae Johnson and Theodore Johnson on the U.S Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She departed this life on May 15, 2025 at Gardner Heights Nursing Home, Shelton, CT. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as "Debbie". Debbie loved music, dancing, watching her favorite cooking shows and had a passion for fashion and makeup. Her favorite colors were purple, red and hot pink. She also loved to cook, bake and celebrate holidays with her family. She loved stuffed animals and looked forward to a new addition for each holiday. Debbie was also known for her delicious cod fish fritters and lasagna. Her bright eyes and beautiful smile lit up any room. Her spirit was always full of positive energy with a sense of humor. Those of us who knew Debbie very well loved her feisty yet spicy ways, she didn’t take any nonsense and would curse you out in a minute. She adored being the center of attention and liked to be called the prettiest woman in the world. Debbie loved children as she cherished her own as her pride and joy. She was a devoted mother and gave birth to three children, who she gave loving nicknames: Oneika (Neika-Pika), Bianca (Bumblebee), and Michael Sean (My Seanie). She also adored her grandchildren Aviana, Khimiah, Samantha and Milania. In her late twenties, she was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a long lasting chronic autoimmune disease. The MS quickly and greatly affected her quality of life. It caused her to become a long-term resident of two nursing homes. Throughout her lifetime she has proven her impeccable strength as she beat the odds in multiple instances. Debbie was known to her family as our “superhero” as we always have and will continue to admire her everlasting strength, resilience and determination to live. Her memory will live on as she exemplified the true representation of “the strength of a fight and the heart of a warrior”. Debbie was an inspiration to us all and we are honored to have had this journey with her. Debbie was preceded in death by her twin Dorothy Marie Johnson, and oldest sister, Yvonne Dolores Rivera. Debbie leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, four grandchildren, only surviving sister (Frances), the father of her children and someone she truly adored (Michael), many nieces, nephews and a large extended family who will never forget the love and laughter she brought to their lives. We find comfort in knowing her legacy will live on through the love she shared and the fond memories we will hold in our hearts and cherish forever. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 6th from 9am – 10am at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Prayer Service will be held at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Avenue, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY. .
