Gail A. Galatro

Gail Galatro peacefully joined her parents on March 31, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family in Stamford, CT. Born February 2, 1952 to Vincent and Rose (nee Conetta) Galatro in Stamford, CT. Although Gail was predeceased by her parents, who she missed every day, she knew that someday they would welcome her with open arms. Gail attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in 1970. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY in 1974 and continued her educational pursuit with a Master’s in Education from Sacred Heart University. Gail’s love for education led her to a wonderful 40- year career in teaching that began in Highland Falls NY, where she taught the 2nd and 4th grades. She returned home to her beloved Stamford to teach Special Education, the 5th grade and Math in the Stamford Public Schools. Gail began her Stamford teaching career at Franklin School and her journey led her to Stark, Springdale and Rogers Schools, where she made significant impacts on the lives of her students and her co-workers until her retirement in 2014. Gail was also a summer school head teacher, cooperating teacher and mentor to numerous new teachers. Teaching was genuinely the calling of Gail’s life and a career where she truly excelled. While teaching may have been Gail’s calling, it was her family that really brought her joy. Gail is survived by her devoted siblings: Janet and Bob DeLuca; John and Maggie (Walsh) Galatro of Stamford and Patricia and Jeffrey Mastrianna of Wilton. Gail’s greatest joys in life were the children of her siblings, where she will always be cherished as “Aunt Gail!”: Jenna (DeLuca) and Sean Rosen, Vincent and Lindsay (Meyers) Galatro, Kyle Galatro, John and Victoria (Hopp) Galatro, Jeffrey Mastrianna, Michael and Elizabeth (Towner) Mastrianna, and Jack Mastrianna. Gail was also blessed with Great nephews and nieces: Bobby and Molly Rosen; and Rosalie and John Galatro. Gail cherished the relationships that she had with her many cousins, and other family members. She always looked forward to family events and especially the “Cousins Luncheons”. Gail treasured her many friendships and relationships with her former colleagues and students upon who’s lives she greatly impacted. Many of Gail’s fondest memories were the times she enjoyed with her family, including her vacations to Delray Beach, FL., Disney World and Italy. But it was always the simple joys that meant the most, like a dinner with family or friends. In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by many family and friends, and most notably her beloved maternal grandmother, Grandma Conetta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7th, at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery 25 Camp Ave Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours.
