Geraldine Fleming Hines

Geraldine Fleming Hines, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Camden, SC and was one of nine children born to the late Rufus and Victoria Pempelton Fleming. Geraldine was 79 years old. Geraldine leaves to cherish her loving memory, three sons, Jerry Fleming, Napoleon Fleming and Anthony Hines; two daughters, Shirley Hines and Cathy Hines; three brothers, Nathaniel, Robert and Andrew Fleming, all of Michigan and one sister, Mamie Ruth Tucker of Atlanta, GA; She also leaves to cherish her memory, three of her grandchildren, to whom she was legal guardian and who she raised; Telly Kinlaw, Shameka Hines and Marquese Hines. She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by two daughters, Patty Hines and Terry Hines; two brothers, Ezekiel Fleming and Charles Fleming and two sisters, Florence Scates and Pauline Fleming Brown. Mrs. Hines lived in Stamford, CT for 62 years. She worked at Stamford Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant and United Health Center in Stamford for over 20 years. She was a charter member of Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stamford, CT where she served on the Nurses and Ushers’ ministries for many years. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23 from which she often quoted “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” Geraldine dedicated herself to the care and well-being of her family and was dearly loved by her family and her many friends. The love she shared will live on in all who knew and loved her. Geraldine’s family will be receiving the sympathy and condolences of family and friends on the evening of Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:30pm to 8pm at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church, 27 Baxter Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Homegoing Service for Mrs. Hines will begin at 6:30pm. The interment will be private. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
