Helen Kelsey

Helen Kelsey, 97, entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2015 at Long Ridge of Stamford nursing facility. She was born September 18, 1917 in Stamford to the late Bartholomer Dzioba and Carolina Mroz. She was preceded in death by her husband George Kelsey, sisters Victoria Meno and Stacia Torpey, and brothers Edward Dzioba and John Dzioba. Helen was a warm and loving Aunt and is survived by her devoted and loving nephew Francis W. Meno, Jr. and his wife, June Badarick Meno, nephew Paul Torpey, nieces Karen Kelsey and Patty Gatto. Helen grew up in Stamford and worked for Sterling Drug Company, formerly Phillips Drug Company. After her husband George was discharged from the US Army, they made their home on a 40 acre farm in Woodbridge, CT for more than 50 years. She and George made their living selling eggs, poultry, and produce. The picturesque farm was a place for neighbors, family and friends to gather and Helen and George hosted events almost every weekend during the summer months. Helen was a wonderful cook and baker - her specialty pies baked in a wood fired oven were always a treat. She retired as an assistant dietitian at Amity Regional High School, Woodbridge, CT where she worked for 10 years. After retirement Helen and George spent winters in Ocala, Fl. Family will receive relatives and friends on the morning of Saturday, April 18th from 9am to 10am with a funeral service to commence at 10am, officiated by Msgr. Dora, at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT. Her interment will immediately follow to Spring Grove Cemetery, in Darien, CT. The family would like to thank Dr. Lee Tracy Silva, the staff of Atria Assisted Living (formerly Sterling Glen of Darien) and Long Ridge of Stamford - especially Maureen Kosbob and Rebecca Puno for all of their wonderful and compassionate care.
