Heronima Kropiewnicki

Our beloved, precious, incredible Mama, Babcia, Pra-Babcia Heronima Kropiewnicki passed away at the amazing age of 96 in the early morning hours on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny morning with a welcoming blue sky and birds singing a delicate, hopeful song. She passed away in her home, in her bed, holding her granddaughter’s hand on a summer day that she would have handpicked for herself if she could. Heronima was born in Szlasy, Poland on February 6, 1926 to Romuald and Anna Zalewski. She was part of a large family including one brother Alexander and six sisters: Alexandra, Anna, Maryja, Janina, Reginka all pre-deceased except for her sister Romualda living in the UK. Heronima met and married Stefan Kropiewnicki in Poland. They lived on farms in Szlasy and Kamianki where they were part of a community with lots of family and friends. Their daughter Regina was their most beloved treasure. In 1972, along with their daughter Regina, Heronima and Stefan moved to America with the help of Stefan’s sister Gladys' family. Heronima worked in many local factories in Stamford and Norwalk for 17 years and retired in 1989. Her husband Stefan worked at Pitney Bowes and slowly they chipped away at the American dream of building a new life in the land of the free. They became proud parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. Regina married her husband Kazimierz Wadolowski in 1972 and then along with Heronima and Stefan- they all lived together as one big family helping to raise their grandchildren Diana & Stan. Heronima’s beloved and kind husband Stefan passed away in 1998 of cancer. Heronima stayed strong and lived a happy life until the end of her days. She relished in watching her grandchildren Diana & Stan grow up and loved going to church with them, sewing, praying, singing with them and of course making sure they always ate enough as is the job of any good Grandma. She was best of friends with her daughter Regina, her granddaughter Diana and her grandson Stan. She was overjoyed when Diana married her husband Alex Orbanowski in 2003 and she loved being part of their wedding. Heronima felt so much joy watching their family grow with the birth of her cherished great-grandchildren Taylor and Jake. Heronima was always surrounded by love. She was our hero and we are just so thankful that God gave her to us to share in her beauty for this many wonderful years together. In fact, Heronima’s longevity and amazing quality of life is a direct result of the thoughtful, kind care that her daughter Regina, her angel, provided on a round the clock basis. Heromina is survived by her loving daughter Regina and husband Kazimierz Wadolowski, her grandson Stanley Wadolowski, granddaughter Diana and husband Alex Orbanowski along with her precious great-grandchildren Taylor and Jake. She is also survived by her sister Romualda Wejda, Orbanowski family by marriage along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We pray that our precious Mama, Babcia, Pra-Babcia Heronima will rest in peace now, knowing that she left us with many incredible memories, the joy of her laugh, her fashion advice and our hearts full of a lasting love. We will always keep her close to us and know that she has left a beautiful impression on everyone she had met. Family welcome relatives and friends on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm, at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave, in Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 10am at Holy Name of Jesus, 325 Washington Boulevard Stamford, CT 06902. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Pl, Stamford, CT 06902.
