John Francis Russo

Life Legacy John Francis Russo, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was 69 years old. John was born in Stamford, CT on November 11, 1946 to the late Frank and Helena (DeNaples) Russo. John attended Stamford public schools and graduated from J.M. Wright Technical High School with the class of 1964 and joined the United States Navy the following year. John served during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the Battleship USS New Jersey. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. John was extremely proud of his service to his country. After his time in the US Navy, John attended and graduated from Iona College and went to work for Pitney Bowes. He worked at Pitney Bowes for many years, and it was there where he would meet his future wife, Lorraine Genovese. John also worked for Atlantic Cement, Cadbury Schwepps and Securitas. He was an avid baseball fan, closely following the NY Mets and the LA Dodgers. He also played on many baseball teams in the Stamford area in his younger years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and going on their many trips to California. John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lorraine (Genovese) Russo, his beloved daughter, Lorene Russo, and his brother and sister-in-law, Frank Russo Jr. and Gina Russo of Henderson, NV. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura Rose Russo.The Russo family will receive the condolences of friends and family on the afternoon of Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016.
