Joseph Anthony Rende, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known to all simply as “Big Joe Rende” peacefully passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday May 5th, 2026. A man with a larger-than-life personality and an even bigger heart, Joe leaves behind a lifetime of memories woven into the lives of everyone who knew him. Joe was a business owner in Port Chester, New York, a career that reflected his sharp mind and independent spirit. He was a proud graduate of Port Chester High School. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1962, a chapter he carried with great pride throughout his life. A devoted family man, Joe cherished nothing more than time spent with his loved ones — especially his eight grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Whether gathered around the kitchen table working through a puzzle together or loading up the car for one of his legendary drives in search of the perfect restaurant, Joe had a remarkable gift for turning simple moments into treasured memories. He is survived by his wife, Louise of 63 years, and his daughters, Debbie Cavaliere (Lou), Lisa Charkales (George), and Joanne Cavaliere. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Joey, Christian, and Danielle Cavaliere; Julia and Andrew Charkales; and Devon, Teagan, and Nicholas Cavaliere; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Hadley Cavaliere. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marietta Parisi Rende, and siblings Peter F. Rende, Elaine Beaudrault, Frank Rende, Jr., Rosemarie Phillips, Betty Marcucilli, and Robert Rende. Joe was the kind of man who filled every room he walked into — not just with his presence, but with warmth, laughter, and love. He will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12th at 10:30am at St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment with military honors will follow immediately at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, CT.
