Joseph Warren Street

Life Legacy Joseph Warren Street, "Gampy", joined his beloved bride in heaven on the morning of Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Norwalk. He was 98 years old. Joseph was born in Stamford, CT on October 20, 1918 and was one of two sons born to the late Benjamin Warren Street and Mary O'Boyle Street. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service during WWII. He served in the 26th infantry "Yankee division", 2nd battalion, 101st regiment in the European theatre and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an avid sports fan, former employee of Reingold Beer, USPS and prewar ship builder. He lived a long life, nearly 99 years filled with the love of all those who knew him.Joseph was a widower to Blossom Judith Gladstone Street, or "Gammy", and is survived by two sons; Richard and wife, Olive, of Encinitas, CA and Robert and wife, Carole, of Norwalk, CT, two sisters-in-law; Katherine Askew of Stamford, CT and Antoinette Gladstone, Stamford, CT, former daughter-in-law, Joanne Slink Street Murray of New Milford, CT, seven grandchildren; Kathleen Miller of Germany, Cheryl Delong of Amelia, VA, Diane Berkowitz of Danbury, CT, Brian Street of New Milford, CT, Jeff Street of China Grove, NC, Tracy Hammer of Decatur, GA, and Michael Street of New Milford, CT, and all of their spouses, 17 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by his only brother, John "Jack" Street.The family will be receiving the sympathy and condolences of friends and family on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 4p.m. to 7p.m., at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.
