Laura Brach

Laura Brach passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023. She was born January 9, 1922 in Bridgeport, CT. Around the age of 8 her family returned to Poland where she lived until 1946, when she returned to US on the Liberty ship USS Ernie Pyle after the end of WW II. She lived in Stamford, CT for the next 73 years and was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. In her earlier years she was a member of the church choir as well as the Rosary Society. In her later years she was a member of the Senior Circle and looked forward to the Wednesday afternoon gatherings and bingo. She was a devout Catholic and for many years was a daily communicant. Laura worked briefly at Yale and Towne Co. where she met Cyprian “Cy” Brach whom she married in September 1950. They were married for 54 happy years. She later worked as a saleswoman at Gimbels for 11 years in Women’s Fine Dresses. Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and an avid gardener. She was also a talented knitter and crocheter. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Cy and her brothers Rev. Stanley Milewski and John Milewski as well as her parents Sophie (Kisiel) and John Milewski. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Brach and Jose Marcal, Stanley and Kathie Brach and Bernadette Kominek and Riccardo Azzoni. Her grandchildren, Melissa Brach, Rachel Noonan (Michael), Jessica Jensen (Kevin), Julie Mackenzie (Conor), Christopher Marcal (Amy), Benjamin Marcal (Jess), William Marcal (AnnaClaire), Nicholas Kominek (Alison) and Victoria Lance (Jason). Nine great-grandchildren Theodore, Cassandra and Zachary Jensen, Caleb and Maya Noonan, Madeline Brach, Beatrice and Gabriel Mackenzie and Miele Marcal. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the caregivers at Spring Village in Stratford and Apex Health Services for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors in Laura’s memory. Visitation will be on May 22nd from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass will follow at 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Blvd. Stamford, CT. Her burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.
