Marie Dimanche

It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Marie Germaine Dimanche, on November 24, 2025, at the age of 97. She was surrounded by the love of her family at her daughter’s home. Born on July 6, 1928, in Carrefour Prince, Jérémie, Haiti, she was the eldest daughter of Prévil Dimanche and Timolia Mathurin. Her resilience was forged early in the remote farm village of her youth, a place accessible only by a ten-hour boat ride from Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, followed by a three-hour walk—a journey that reflected the quiet strength and determination that would define her life. She was the cherished wife of Mercène Aman for 18 years, and together they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, and devotion before his passing. A devoted mother to Jean Aman and Nicole Duvigneaud, and a loving mother-in-law to Alix Duvigneaud and Yolande Aman. Her greatest joy was her role as grandma to Dimitri, Wilner, Jeff, Stephenson, Jean Aman Jr., Sophia, and Stephanie, and as a great-grandmother to Damien, Saveenah, Jaden, Bella, Jean Aman III, and Aniyah. Grann Mecène (as we called her) will be remembered for her unshakable faith in God, her generous heart, and the nourishing comfort of her amazing cooking. A woman of strong character and quiet strength, she taught us the value of hard work, resilience, and dedication to family not through words alone, but through the unwavering example of her life. She is predeceased by her husband, Mécene; her siblings Andrè, Elvire, Parfise, Menès, Mètonè, and Cèreste Dimanche; and her grandson Stephenson Aman. She is survived by both her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous adored nieces, nephews, and friends. The family extends its deepest gratitude to all the friends, family, nurses, and aides who provided compassionate care. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th from 9:00am to 10:30am at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 12th at 11:30am at Notre Dame/St. Gabriel Church 948 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT. Following the services, her remains will be taken home to Jérémie, Haiti. Her love, her lessons, and her steadfast spirit will forever be the foundation of our family's story.
