Mary Louise Wakin

Life Legacy Mary Louise Wakin, nee Grosso, a life-long Stamford resident, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017 at Cassena Care of Stamford. She was born in Stamford on May 3, 1934, and was one of two daughters born to the late Frank and Stella (Sowulaski) Grosso.Mary Louise was a remarkable woman who seemed to be able to handle anything thrown her way. When faced with her long term illness she responded with incredible strength and bravery; never complaining about her plight or acting without dignity and grace. She was a beloved wife, a loving sister and aunt, and friend to many. She was a generous and loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and tending her garden. She enjoyed travelling the world and attending the opera with her husband, had a natural love of animals, especially her dogs, and was an avid supporter of animal related causes. Mary Louise was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Joseph P. Wakin, in 2006 and is survived by her sister; Margaret Jean Velanzon, niece; Candy Jean Vaccaro, nephew; Daniel J. Wakin and wife, Vera Haller, great niece; Rebecca Vaccaro and husband, Patrick A. Jones, great nephews; Michael Vaccaro and wife, Krystle, Christopher Vaccaro, Thomas Wakin and Michael Wakin, and several members of her large extended family.Visitation will be held TODAY, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd at 10am at The Basilica of St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford, CT, 06901.
