Mercedes Cruz, de 96 años de edad y apreciada residente de la ciudad de Stamford, CT encontró al descanso eterno el Sábado 21 de Enero del 2023 rodeada de su familia. Mercedes, conocida por su familia y amigos como Chelita, nació en la ciudad de Fresno, Tolima, Colombia el 6 de Agosto de 1926. Hija del ya fallecido Vicente Tabares. Mercedes, esposa de Jorge E. Cruz en 1950 y compartieron 38 años de armonioso matrimonio, antes de su fallecimiento el 11 de Febrero de 1988. Su legado vivirá a través de sus dos hijas Bertha Lucia y Luz Marina, sus nietos Paola Andrea, Natalia, Luis Angel, Jorge Andrés, Elizabeth, y Sarah Daniela, y sus bisnietos Gabriel y Anthony. La sobrevive su hermana Isabel Tabares. Dios fue una parte muy importante de la vida de Chelita. Fue una mujer de enorme fe y un espíritu generoso. Mercedes, known to her family and friends as Chelita, was born in Fresno, Tolima, Colombia on August 6, 1926, to the late Vicente Tabares. Mercedes was married to Jorge E. Cruz in 1950 and they shared 38 beautiful years of marriage, before his passing on February 11, 1988. Chelita’s legacy will live through her two daughters Bertha Lucia and Luz Marina, her six grandchildren Paola Andrea, Natalia, Luis Angel, Jorge Andres, Elizabeth, and Sarah Daniela, and her two greatgrandchildren Gabriel and Anthony. She is survived by her sister Isabel Tabares. God was an important part of Chelita’s life. She was a woman of great faith and generous spirit.
