Nikolaos Kakouros

Nikolaos “Big Nick” Kakouros, 52, a long-time resident of Stamford, CT passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2025. Nikos was born on July 6, 1973 to Panagiotis and Kalliopi Kakouros in Stamford, CT. He worked as an Excavator for Penna Construction for many years. Nikos was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. With his infectious smile and sense of humor, he lit up any room he walked into. He was a “gentle giant” whose journey on this earth was one marked by love and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. He will truly be missed but never forgotten. “There is no goodbye for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts” Nikos was preceded in death by his younger brother, Yiannis Kakouros. He leaves behind his loving parents, Panagiotis and Kalliopi Kakouros, his sister, Angela (Tony) Autoria, his niece, Kristen and his nephew, Robert. He also leaves behind his chosen family, Lisa Sandalo and Sydney Loiarro, whom he cherished deeply. His fur babies, Winston and Frankie, will sadly miss him. Nikos is also survived by his aunts, uncles, several cousins and many friends who love and adore him. The Kakouros family will receive the condolences of family and friends Sunday, August 3rd from 2pm to 6pm, with a Trisagion service beginning at 5:30pm, at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 4th at 10am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 1230 Newfield Avenue in Stamford. Rev. Father Evan Evangelidis will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, in Stamford. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Nikos memory to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Stamford, CT or American Kidney Fund.
