Robert T. Clifford

Robert T. Clifford (“Bob”) passed away on February 23, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1939 at Jewish Memorial Hospital (Inwood, NY) to Sheila P. (nee Connolly; Balla, Co Mayo, Ire) and Francis Aloysius Clifford (Brooklyn, NY). Bob graduated from Mount St. Michael Academy and Fordham University where he made precious life-long friendships. Bob was an athlete. Notably, he was drafted out of high school by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but ultimately decided to go to college where he continued to play baseball. In adulthood, he found his ultimate sport of choice, golf. Bob also loved reading and writing. A prolific letter writer – many mailboxes here and abroad have been met with weighty updates in handwriting as unique as himself. His Catholic faith formed his daily living. Bob was a beloved member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6201. He epitomized kindness above all else. He was a gentleman, an adored father, and a good friend to many. He is survived by four children: Robert (Donna), KerryAnne Koester (Rick), Erin Corrigan (Jilly Hesson), and Allison Clifford; as well as six grandchildren: Megan Havrilla (Michael), Robert Clifford, Maggie Koester, Nicholas Clifford, Matthew Koester, and Aileen Corrigan. Bob is also survived by his brother- and sister-in-law Neil and Alice McGillion, niece and nephew Julia and Jesse Zousmer, as well as many cousins in Ireland, England, and Scotland who brought much joy to his life. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Aileen Anne (nee McGillion) in April 2012, his brother Francis A. Clifford, and his great granddaughter Amelia Marie Havrilla. Family welcomes relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 4pm - 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 10am, Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. His interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. In compliance with state mandates and the safety of all those attending his funeral services, it is mandatory to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing.
