Roland Lafontant

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roland Lafontant, who departed this life on August 13, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on April 4, 1956, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Roland lived a remarkable life defined by love for his family, dedication to his work, and passion for the arts. Roland was the beloved son of Haiti, where he grew up alongside his two siblings, Celine and Anes. In his early years in Port-au-Prince, he worked as part of the close security team for President Jean-Claude Duvalier. Seeking new opportunities, Roland immigrated to the United States in 1987, where he built both his career and his family life. He began working as a dietary cook at Tandet Center in 1988, where he remained until its closure in 2015. Roland then continued his service in dietary care at Cassena Care in Westport before transferring to their Stamford location. Alongside his culinary career, he pursued his passion for media, earning a Culinary Arts Certificate in 1992, a Film and Arts Certificate in 1994, and a Videography Certification soon after. With camera in hand, Roland became a fixture at life’s special moments—capturing baptisms, weddings, communions, and countless celebrations. In 1995, Roland married the love of his life, Marie Lafontant, and together they built a beautiful family. He was a proud father to Max R. Lafontant, Melissa O. Lafontant, and Herlande Phinee Cherubin, and a doting grandfather to Maximus King Lafontant, Zion K. Cherubin, and Zara H. Roland will be remembered as the life of the party, a man of impeccable style and unique flair, with a deep love for fashion and classic cars. His presence was magnetic, his laughter unforgettable, and his spirit one that brought people together. Roland’s legacy is one of love, joy, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. . Visitation hours will take place on Saturday, September 6th from 9am to 12pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT followed by a Prayer Service at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, Stamford, CT.
