ENGLISH: Rosa Mercedes Arenas Obando, 83, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 16, 2020 in her home. She was born in Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru on September 24, 1937 to Maria Mostasero and Jose Obando. Rosa moved to the city of Lima, the country’s capital, in her youth, where she worked at a bakery. She then worked as a seamstress for many years while living in Peru, until she immigrated to America where she continued to work as a seamstress in New York City. Rosa was known for being highly skilled and was someone who others could turn to for help. Rosa soon moved to be closer to her children and grandchildren and settled in Stamford, CT. There are fond memories of having cafe con leche with Rosa, of hearing her joke and contagious laugh, listening to Donna Summers together and receiving many knitted scarves and hats during the holidays. Rosa will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt - who was always concerned for everyone. Rosa was a caring and loving, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Juan Antonio Arenas, Percy Arenas, Eduardo Arenas, Juan Jose Arenas, Ana Maria Arenas and her grandchildren Graciela Arenas, Juan Javier Arenas, Melanie Martinez, Stephanie Martinez, Jean Pierre Arenas and Rosemarie Arenas. Rosa had many friends and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Rosa’s family will hold visitation to immediate family and close friends at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford on Monday, November 23rd, from 9am to 11am with a prayer service to be celebrated at 11am. Nació en la ciudad de Trujillo en La Libertad, Perú el 24 de septiembre de 1937. Sus padres fueron María Mostasero y José Obando. Rosa se mudó a la ciudad de Lima, capital del país, en su juventud, donde trabajó en una panadería. Luego trabajó como costurera durante muchos años hasta que tomó la decisión de emigrar a Estados Unidos, país donde continuó trabajando como costurera en la ciudad de Nueva York. Rosa era conocida por ser muy hábil y a quien otros podían acudir en busca de ayuda. Ella nunca dejó de servir a su prójimo. Rosa pronto se mudó para estar más cerca de sus hijos y nietos y se estableció en Stamford, CT. Fueron muchos y, sobretodo, buenos los recuerdos como por ejemplo tomar ese café con leche delicioso con ella, escuchar sus bromas y su risa contagiosa, escuchar a Donna Summers juntas y recibirle muchas bufandas y gorros tejidos durante los días festivos. Rosa siempre será recordada como una madre, abuela, hermana, tía y una gran devota, que siempre se preocupó por todos y amó a todos sin distinción. Le sobreviven sus hijos Juan Antonio Arenas, Percy Arenas, Eduardo Arenas, Juan Jose Arenas, Ana Maria Arenas y sus nietos Graciela Arenas, Juan Javier Arenas, Melanie Martinez, Stephanie Martinez, Jean Pierre Arenas y Rosemarie Arenas. Rosa estableció muchas amistades a lo largo de su vida y era querida por todos. La extrañaremos mucho y nunca la olvidaremos.
