Vasilios Sotiropoulos

Vasilios Sotiropoulos, a long-time resident of Stamford, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday the 7th of February. Born on January 11, 1940 in Piraeus Greece. He immigrated to the United States in 1986, and settled in Stamford, CT. Vasilios was well known as a convenience store owner, before working as a school crossing guard during his retirement. He was also an active member in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, and a respected community member. Vasilios was charismatic and always laughing. He loved good food and socializing, enjoyed dancing and celebrations. He loved to make jokes and tell stories. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling. Predeceased by his devoted wife of 40 years, Helen Sotiropoulos, his parents Andreas and Theone Sotiropoulos, as well as by his brothers; Efstratios, Athanasios, Michael, and George Sotiropoulos. He is survived by his children; Andrea Kiliaris of Astoria, NY, son-in-law Nick and his grandchildren Eleni, Emanuel and Emmelia. His son Vasilios Sotiropoulos of Stamford, CT. His daughters; Nikoletta Sotiropoulos and Theone Sotiropoulos of Greece as well as his grandson Xristos, granddaughter Kleopatra, her husband George and great-grandson Michael also of Greece. His granddaughter Katerina of Northfield, NJ, her husband Milto and great-granddaughter Sofia. His stepdaughter Christina Nafpliots of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by his brother Eleftherios in Greece and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. A viewing for family and friends will be held ‪on Thursday, February 15th from 4pm-8pm with the Trisagion service at 7pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. The funeral service will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, February 16th at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Internment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Pl, Stamford, CT.
