Veronica “Ronnie” Stanek Loughran, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 13, 2026. Born on November 30, 1931, Ronnie was the youngest of seven children born to Walter and Mary Stanek. Ronnie attended Holy Name of Jesus School and graduated from Stamford High School, where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team. She was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, and loved her Stamford roots and Polish heritage. The friendships, faith, and values she developed during her childhood remained with her throughout her life. In 1950, Ronnie married James “Jimmy” Loughran, and soon after welcomed their beloved daughter, Patricia Ann. Years later, Ronnie, Jimmy and their good friend, Eugene “Bo” Bohannan, purchased the Colony Grill in Stamford. Through their hard work, dedication, and warm hospitality, they transformed it into one of Stamford’s favorite gathering places and a landmark that became part of the city’s history. Always looking to try something new, Ronnie discovered a love for golf in her 60s. She quickly became an accomplished player, earning many city trophies. Ronnie devoted countless hours to serving her community. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, volunteered at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford, sang in the choir at Holy Name, and was a member of the Coral Singers of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Of all the roles Ronnie had, none brought her greater joy than being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nana had a gift for bringing people together, and that is something all who knew her will miss and carry with them. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, often brightening a room with her upbeat personality and infectious smile. Family gatherings and holidays were never complete without Nana leading everyone in song, especially on Christmas with her spirited rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” and at weddings with "Danny Boy." Ronnie is survived by her daughter, Patricia “Patty” Arnone and her adored son-in-law, Bill Arnone. She was a proud and loving grandmother to BJ (Emily), Kelley (Nick), Matthew (Lauren), and Gregory (Courtney). Nothing brought her greater joy than watching their families grow and spending time with her eleven great-grandchildren: Hudson, William, Presley, Katherine, Connor, Nellie, Charlie, Olivia, Michael, Mckenna, and Claire Veronica. Her love, wisdom, and positive spirit will remain with them always. Ronnie's nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart. She welcomed being the "Babe" in her family and treasured the relationships with those she grew so close. She was predeceased by her husband, James Loughran; her parents, Walter and Mary Stanek; her brothers, Frank, Theodore, Chester, and Joseph; her sisters, Helen and Alice; John Calitri and Louis Casper. The family would like to thank Benchmark of Stamford, her caregiver, Vilia, and Patrick from VITAS for their wonderful and dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford, Connecticut, in Veronica Stanek Loughran's memory. "And a partridge in a pearrrrr treeee…." Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16th, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 17th, at 9:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Stamford, CT.
