Veronica Eleanor Olsen

Veronica Eleanor Olsen passed away comfortably at home after a brief illness on February 10, 2022. Veronica was born February 3, 1943, in Portage, PA to George and Maria (Kolok) Cervik, being the youngest of eight children. After living her first 17 years as a true coal miner’s daughter, Veronica decided to join three of her sisters in Stamford, CT. This is where she took a job at Pitney Bowes and fatefully met the love of her life, Howard Olsen. Veronica and Howard married in July 1964. The loving couple welcomed their daughter Pamela Lynn in August 1968. Veronica was always grateful to Howard for affording her the ability to be a “Stay at Home Mom”. After Pam left for college, Veronica found her “second home and family” with a long career at Merrill Lynch in Stamford, where she worked until her retirement on June 24, 2021. Veronica loved vacations with her family on Cape Cod and had a passion for cooking and baking. She was a devoted member of the Zion Lutheran Church for many years, prior to the last 10 years, where she was a parishioner and active member of the quilting club of St. John’s Lutheran on Newfield Avenue. Veronica is predeceased by her husband Howard and daughter Pamela Lynn. She is survived by her stepson Christian Olsen; grandchildren, Alyssa and Gregory Olsen, Haley and Nicholas Iovino; and by a large cast of family and friends. Although Veronica’s life came with many obstacles, she gracefully accepted “most” of them and cherished every moment of her memories with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. Veronica’s family is grateful and would like to thank Dr. Neuberger, Dr. Arden-Cordone, Waveny Health Care, Constellation Health Staff, and most of all, her loving caregivers Ewa, Mariola, and Martha.
