Walter H Bradley

Walter H. Bradley, 72, of Stamford, passed from this world at Stamford Hospital on December 23, 2016 surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Walter's indomitable spirit, humility and humor in the face of every event great and small - even in his final hours - is a model for each of us. Walter loved nothing more than to hear of your latest personal achievement/event or better yet, that of your child, niece, nephew or grandchild. When next he saw you - weeks or year later - he would inquire about the accomplishment - always with astounding detail and understanding. When he learned that you had an interest or advocation, he would send along newspaper articles, music or book titles to add to new color to your experience. He loved to engage in discourse on a wide range of topics - with firm conviction tempered always by humor. He loved the beaches of Madison, Guilford, Branford, Newport, Ogunquit and Cape Cod, the hills of Stockbridge and Lenox, the arts of Manhattan, baseball of the Bronx, all libraries and The New York Times. His academic and professional accomplishments in CT and NY, as a highly-regarded healthcare executive and CPA, were numerous and far reaching always with a focus on improving the human condition; the frailty of which he understood all too well. His legacy includes a rich body of published papers and public work in advocacy of the frail and vulnerable. Walter leaves a host of friends and relatives to lead on with humor and compassion including his wife of 33 years, Sharon; son, Walter of Hamden; sisters and brothers in law Cindy and Joe Morrissey of North Branford; Nancy and Jerry Sinatra of Walpole, MA and Bill and Charlene Weber of Salem and Wellfleet, MA. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of Stamford Hospital, the Bennet Cancer Center and MSKCC for their years of care. For those who may wish, the family suggests that donations be made in Walter's memory to: Stamford Hospital Foundation, the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital or MSKCC - Dr. Virginia Klimek - MDS Research. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Avenue in Stamford. His interment will be private. Family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford.
