Catherine Bankowski Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Catherine (Soltys) Bankowski, 90 years old, a lifetime resident of Stamford, CT, and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Friday, December 11, 2015. She was born in Stamford on May 4, 1925 to the late John and Eudocea Soltys. Catherine grew up in Stamford and went on to raise her family there. She worked for Pitney Bowes as a line inspector and retired after many years of dedicated service to the company. She was a member of the Pitney Bowes Oval Club, the National Council of Senior Citizens and she enjoyed the time she spent volunteering at Quintard Manor. In her spare time she enjoyed playing BINGO and liked to bake and cook for the people she loved. She was at her happiest when she was preparing and cooking a delicious Sunday meal for her immediate and extended family. Above all else, Catherine loved spending time with her grandchildren and, especially, her precious great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family and by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Catherine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward Bankowski III and his wife Diana, four grandchildren; Tracey Kenez, Laurie Vallerie (Kevin) and David and Jason Bankowski, and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward Bankowski, Jr. and Sandra Bankowski, and her sisters; Mary Negysi and Rose Taylor. The Bankowski family will receive the sympathy of friends and family on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A prayer service will take place, also at Bosak Funeral Home, on the morning of Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10a.m. The committal service and interment will immediately follow the service at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, in Stamford. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Catherine's name to a charity of your choice .
