Eileen Carrigan Abbott
April 11, 1931 - May 21, 2017
Eileen Carrigan Abbott, a nearly lifetime resident of Stamford, died at her home in Milford on Sunday, May 21st at the age of 86. She was short in stature, but a giant in how she lived her life, in the life force she exuded, and the love and devotion she gave to those who were endeared to her. To be loved by her was to be sheltered by a love that was fierce, tender, protective and forgiving. She had a soft heart for a stray, of both the animal and human variety, and all were made welcome in her home and found a place within her family and her heart. She had a quick wit and sharp intellect, and her fiery red hair perfectly matched her passionate temperament. She loved antiques and decorating her gracious home with them, and was the owner of Finders Seekers Antiques in Springdale before retiring. She loved to laugh and was full of funny stories and jokes, and knew, as well, how to laugh at herself. The stories of herself that she leaves behind are epic, monumental and hilarious; a small comfort to the pain of losing her. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Alfred ‘Bud’ Abbott, and her children, Jonathan, Stephen, Christopher, Bridget and Colleen Abbott. She is predeceased by her son Timothy Abbott. In addition she leaves behind her daughters-in-law Cathy (Baigert) Abbott, Noël (LaMotte) Abbott and Michelle (Muller) Abbott and her grandchildren, Jason, Patrick, Meaghan, Charles, David, Timothy, Lukas and Katherine Grace Abbott. Eileen’s family will be receiving the sympathy and condolences of family and friends on the morning of Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 9am to 10:15am at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A mass of Christian burial will also be celebrated on Thursday at St. Mary R.C. Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT. 06902 at 10:30am. The interment will immediately follow mass at Queen of Peace R.C. Cemetery in Stamford.
