Elizabeth (Libby) Chiappetta of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Thursday, January 6, 2022. She was 96 years old. Libby was born in Stamford, CT the daughter of the late Mary (Yacknick) and Anton Ryba. Libby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Libby is survived by three daughters, Judy Calorossi and her husband Michael of Danbury, Debra Webb and her husband Michael of Danbury, and Laurie Chiappetta and her husband Victor of Stamford; a son, Don Chiappetta and his wife Patricia of Stamford; and a brother-in-law Donald Palmer of Stamford. She is also survived by six grandchildren Michael Calorossi and his wife Sharlene of Southbury, Chris Calorossi and his wife Nicole of Danbury, Jeffrey Calorossi and his wife Amanda of Danbury, and Steven, Amanda and Christopher Chiappetta of Stamford; four great-grandchildren Matthew and Rachel Calorossi, and Isabella and Mariella Genovese; and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Dom, her brother John Ryba and her sisters Albina Ryba, Helen Nardozza and Florence Chiappetta. Libby grew up on the West Side of Stamford. Libby married the love of her life, Dom, in 1947, and lived her whole life only a few yards from the house where she was born. Libby was famous for making her special Christmas Eve breadcrumbs to sprinkle on your macaroni. She welcomed everyone to the dinner table, often whipping up a large meal seemingly out of nowhere. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church and was devoted to her entire family, including the extended West High Service family. The entire family is truly grateful for the loving care and companionship that her caregiver Irma provided to Libby. There will not be any calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 12th at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. The interment will immediately follow to St. John's Cemetery, in Darien.
