Emily V. (Kulowiec) Symeon formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on January 27, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Symeon for over 50 years. Emily was born in Stamford on February 12, 1916, daughter of the late John and Sophie Kulowiec. She was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of Shorts Secretarial School. She lived in Stamford all of her life and worked during her career at the Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company, the Esbeco Distilling Corporation, the Unique Balance Company, Albert's Plumbing and Heating Company and finally retiring from the Grant Airmass Corporation as head bookkeeper. Emily was a devout Roman Catholic and was a parishioner of the Holy Name of Jesus Church for all of her 101 years. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Saint Theresa Society and the Polish Women's Alliance of America. She was active for many years in the kitchen at Holy Name Church communion breakfasts and was famous for her delicious Polish baked goods. She was named "Mother of the Year" in the parish for the year 2012. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles S. and Lynn D. Symeon of Indialantic, FL, Paul J. and Judith Symeon of The Villages, FL and Theodore J. and Sharyn R. Symeon of Oxford, CT. Her grandchildren are Paul, Marybeth, Christopher, Jeff, Barbara, Mark and Eric Symeon and great grandchildren P.J., Samantha, Benjamin and Carolyn Symeon. She leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Joseph, and is survived by brothers, Walter Kulowiec of Storrs, CT, Edmund Kulowiec of Shannock, RI and John Kulowiec of Darien, CT. Emily was always known for her gracious and loving treatment of others both inside and outside of the family. She was very close to everyone in the family, especially her grandchildren. Coffee and conversation with Emily at her kitchen table was something all of the family treasured and enjoyed. The annual Labor Day picnics at her house were for family and friends the social highlight of the year for over 50 years and not to be missed. Family will receive relatives and friends from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, February 2nd at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, February 3rd at the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 325 Washington Blvd, in Stamford. Burial to follow at Saint John's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Darien, CT.
