Francis Alfred Chmielinski, 85, of Rowayton and longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Francis was born July 4, 1929 in Stamford and was the only child born to the late Francis S. and Bertha L. (Pieczko) Chmielinski. Francis attended Stamford public schools and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1948. Following graduating, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during the Korean Conflict and achieved the rank of Sergeant. After the service he returned to Stamford and began his career as an automotive mechanic. He married his beloved wife, Dorothy, in 1960 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2000. Mr. Chmielinski was longtime parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford and loyal to his faith and church. Francis enjoyed following the NY Yankees and was an avid REDSKIN fan. Mr. Chmielinski is survived by his loving children; Theresa A. Maurice and Francis J. Chmielinski, and his grandchildren; Abby and William Maurice. The Chmielinski family will receive the condolences of friends and family on Sunday, August 17th from 4p.m. to 7p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Blvd., in Stamford. The committal service and interment will immediately follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, in Darien. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
