Giacomo “James” Macari passed away on April 27, 2015. James was born on May 4, 1928 in Settefrati, Italy to the late Giuseppa Terenzio Macari and the late Mario Macari. James came to the U.S. in April, 1948 where he lived in Queens. He moved to Stamford in the 1950’s where he met his late beloved wife of 38 years, Annette Esposito Macari. James worked as a tailor for a number of years before he went to work for Pitney Bowes, Inc. for 31 years until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and time at his country home in Wingdale, NY. But most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Josephine Del Mazio (husband Philip) and Laura Portanova (husband David); five grandchildren, Danielle Izzo (Matthew), Matthew Del Mazio (Kelly), Gregory Del Mazio, Alexa Portanova and Jonathan Portanova. He is also survived by a brother-in-law John Esposito (Lexi) and a sister-in-law Ida Esposito. He was predeceased by three sisters, a brother, four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Jean and Al Scott, Amleto and Froscce Picozza, Antoinetta and Alberto Casamadre, John and Rose Macari and Joseph Esposito. Family will receive relatives and friends on the morning of Saturday, May 2nd from 9am to 10am at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30am at the Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, in Stamford. He will be entombed at the St John RC Cemetery’s Community Mausoleum, in Darien, CT.
