Iver Roy Smith Sr, affectionately called Zun, age 71, passed away on February 14, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Blossom Smith. He is also survived by his nine children, Pauline Thompson, Rodney Smith, Nadine Smith, Iver R. Smith Jr, Dawnette Smith, Calecia Smith, Shauna Smith, Jodian Smith, and Jamar Smith; fifteen grandchildren; by many nieces and nephews; and by his siblings, Percival Bradford of Jamaica, Palvin Smith, Thelma Johnson, and Naomi Wright, of Bridgeport CT. He was preceded in death by Uton and Girlyn Smith, and Cindy And Roslyn Bradford. He was born on March 10, 1944 to parents Mabel Johnson and Albert Smith in the Island of Jamaica. He migrated to America in the year 1979, where he held positions in construction, as well as working for the Stamford Advocate. His longest tenured stay was with the Pan America Security Company where he spent 14 years as well as Laidlaw Transit, now First Student where he worked for more than 30 years. Iver was a loving husband, amazing father, and grandfather, and such a man of faith. He was a long time parishioner of the Greater Works Community Church of God of Stamford, formally the New Testament Church of God, where he was a member from the year 1980 until the date of his death. He served diligently for the faith as a Deacon, was the Men’s Fellowship President (Life Builders) and worked endless to service the church and community as a driver. His legacy is built on his faithfulness to God and his family, and has left behind this treasure for us all to value. He touched many lives with his smile, his kind words, and his warm heart, and he will be dearly missed. Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 26th from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27th at 10am at Greater Works Community Church of God, 724 S. Pacific Street, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT.
