Joe Donald Wells
May 16, 1949 - November 25, 2016
Joe Donald Wells, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, peacefully passed away at Stamford Hospital on the evening of Friday, November 25, 2016, only 13 days after the passing of his beloved wife of 48 years, Sarah Ann Wells. Joe was born in Gordo, Alabama on May 16, 1949 and was one of two children born to the late Clarence and Mary Lean (Durrah) Wells. Joe was 67 years old at the time of his passing. Joe devoted his life to his family. He most loved music, politics, and reading. He enjoyed sharing his love of various types of music (James Brown was one of Joe’s favorite artists), interest in politics, and reading to his daughters. He was a man of few words, but as best known by his wife and children, his input on a situation most often turned out to be the best solution. Known by most as a private man, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; reminiscing about growing up in Alabama, his persistence in his boyhood to make Sarah his wife, working in the backyard (he relished his flower beds), and grilling the best chicken in town. Joe loved his family and took pride in all that he, his wife, and his daughters achieved. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by three brothers, Alonzo Wells, Frankie Wells and Johnny Ray Wells. Joe is survived by his two loving daughters, Kimberly Renae Wells of McDonough, GA and Latoya Shavon Wells-Zeigler (Anthony) of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Rose Mary Wells-Davis of McDonough, GA, Paula Elaine Butler of Northport, AL, Barbara Wells-Spencer (Ray) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Patricia Wells-Booker and Diane Wells of St. Louis, MO; five brothers, Willie Clarence Wells of Tuscaloosa, AL, Michael Wells(Inge) of San Antonio, TX, Nathaniel Wells of St. Louis, MO, Eric Leon Wells (Susan) of Marietta, CA, and Charles Wells of Woodridge, VA; stepmother, Emma “Honey” Wells of Tuscaloosa, AL; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on in their hearts. A memorial of Joe’s life will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 11:30am to 1pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. The family welcomes those wishing to remember Joe and is free to share reflections, scripture, and prayer. The interment will be private. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
