Lauretta T. Meehan-Coppola, born March 19, 1923, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014. With great will and determination, she fought a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's, but never lost her sense of self dignity. She was married in January 1945 to her beloved husband Thomas J. Meehan Sr. and together, they raised their five children, Thomas (Kathleen) who passed away in 2012, Maureen Pavia, James (Gail), Laurie Sollitto (Robert) and Mary Ellen Guarnieri (Eugene). She was blessed in life with a second wonderful husband, Ralph T. Coppola and expanded her family to include his adult children Glen (Peggy), Adrienne, Chris, Corey and Neal. She was the proud grandmother of thirteen and great-grandmother to three. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling, spending winter months in Florida, reading, cooking, and, most especially, every holiday she had the chance to celebrate the day and enjoy that time with her family. A great amount of gratitude is extended to the wonderful nurses from Hospice especially Mamie, Nelly, Felicia, Nereida, and Sandra. Most of all, a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the two people who never left her side and cared for her on a 24-hour basis with unwavering love, support, and devotion, Millicent and Rema. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6th at 11am at Saint Mary’s Parish, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Darien, CT.
