Margaret Donch Bak

September 9, 1921 - November 6, 2014

Margaret Donch Bak of Stamford, CT passed away November 6th, 2014 after a brief illness. Margaret, known as Peggy to all who loved her, was born in Carrolltown, PA to Elizabeth and Michael Donch and was the last surviving sibling of 10 children.   Peggy graduated from St. Benedict High School in Carrolltown. She received a scholarship and then graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Business Administration. She retired from Price Waterhouse in January of 1990 after 21 years of dedicated service. Margaret belonged to St. Benedict’s Parish in Stamford, the Sunshine Club, The Over Sixty Club, Springdale Seniors Club, the Columbiettes of St. Augustine Council  #41, AARP North Stamford Chapter 2002.  She was also a member of the former St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Phi Chi Theta – Epsilon chapter  at The University of Pittsburgh, the Springdale Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9617, where she served as president and treasurer, the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW District I, where she served as secretary and past treasurer, the former Rosary Altar Society for St. Benedict’s church, where she served as president and treasurer and Our Lady’s Guild at Sacred Heart Church, where she served as Treasurer. She married the late Joseph Bak, and is survived by their three children; Michele Passeretti of Memphis, TN, Robert Bak from Patterson, NY ,  Jacqueline DeWalt who resides in Scottsdale, AZ, and by her 8 grandchildren and a great grandson. A wake will be held Sunday, November 9th from 2 to 6 pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am at St. Benedict Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, in Stamford.  Interment will follow mass at Queen of Peace cemetery in Stamford. In Lieu of flowers, Margaret’s family asks that you consider making a memorial donation to the “Over Sixty Club”, 628 Main St., Stamford, CT 06901 and/or St. Benedict-Our Lady of Montserrat, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford, CT 06902.
