Margaret Jean Velanzon

July 7, 1935 - October 8, 2021

Margaret Jean Velanzon passed away peacefully on October 8, 2021. Margaret was born in Stamford, CT on July 7, 1935 and was one of two daughters born to the late Frank Grosso and Stella (Sowuleski) Grosso. Margaret was a lifetime resident of Stamford, CT and a parishioner of The Basilica of St John the Evangelist. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a graduate of Stamford High School. To know Margaret was to love her. Margaret worked for many years in the food service industry across multiple restaurants and made many lifetime friends through her years of service. Those who frequented Stamford area restaurants remember her bright smile and effervescent personality. Margaret’s true passion was dancing and the arts. She could often be found frequenting Broadway shows, operas and even auditioned at a young age for the Radio City Rockettes. Margaret shared her love of New York City with her daughter and made annual trips during Christmastime to visit the sites and experience New York at its best. Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and took pride in her tight-knit family. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate her loved ones and Margaret was a staple at her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, ceremonies, musical endeavors and parties. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Candy Jean Vaccaro, two grandsons, Michael and his wife Krystle Vaccaro, Christopher and his wife Jamie Vaccaro, and granddaughter Rebecca Vaccaro. Margaret is also survived by her 10 great-grandchildren: Priscilla Vaccaro, Isabella Vaccaro, Angelina Vaccaro, Lucas Jones, Jacob Jones, Michael Vaccaro, Madison Vaccaro, Matthew Jones, Lorelei Jones and Marilena Vaccaro. Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4pm - 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10am at The Basilica of St John the Evangelist R.C, Church, 279 Atlantic St, Stamford, CT.
