Meghann Starson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Meghann (Meg) Starson, 33, of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on July 9, 2016 with her loving parents by her side. Born on May 12, 1983, Meg grew up in Stamford, attending Stamford High School before receiving her BS in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and her dual Master’s Degrees in Psychology and Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University. Meg was passionate about the mental health and counseling field and was one class away from earning her license in Professional Counseling (LPC) prior to her fight with cancer. Meg worked for ten years at Stamford Hospital as a board certified Activity Therapist in the Behavioral Health Unit, caring for over 40,000 patients and creating and guiding group therapies. She won the Spirit of Planetree “program of the year” award for her unique approach to patient-centered care. Meg captained “Meg’s Legs” in support of the Bennett Cancer Center for three years, and raised over $40, 000 in donations for the center in that time. One of Meg’s greatest qualities was her compassion for others. Meg had a deep faith and was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She lived with a captivating passion for life, her smile was contagious and her personality lit up any room. She particularly enjoyed weekends in LBI with family, writing, cooking, and painting. Meg is survived by her parents, Joseph and Toni Starson of Stamford, CT; her grandmother, Sophia “Yiayia” Thagouras, beloved aunts and uncles, 23 cousins and her kitty, Leo. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Theresa and Joseph Starson, Phillip ”Papou” Thagouras, William and Virginia McGlynn and her aunt, Angelina “Agel” Raffone. “You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.” For sure, Meg’s life was far reaching and deep. Her inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her. Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel! Meg’s family will be receiving the sympathy and condolences of friends and family on Wednesday, Jujy13, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Trisagion Service will take place at 7pm with Fr. Evan Evangelidis officiating. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. The interment will immediately follow the service at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
