Minnie Graves Antonello, age 94, Longtime resident of New Canaan, passed away on January 2, 2022 with her family by her side just 20 days before her 95th birthday. She was born on January 22, 1927 in North Adams, MA she was the daughter of the late Elsie and Ralph Graves. Minnie and husband Leo were married in 1950 and moved to New Canaan shortly thereafter. Leo's job with Olivetti Corp, transferred him & Minnie to Italy in 1958. Upon return to New Canaan in 1961, where they remained for the rest of their lives to raise three children. Minnie was a very active lifetime member of The United Methodist Church of New Canaan, during her 55+ years with the church. She enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, The Children’s Service Circle, The Communion Committee and one of her favorites was The Cookie Swap. Minnie also enjoyed participating as a volunteer with her children's school activities throughout the New Canaan school system. Minnie and Leo enjoyed traveling with friends by cruise ship to The Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaii, several Caribbean Islands, Canada & Bermuda. They also traveled to Israel, Japan & many countries in Europe. We would like to thank everyone at Waveny Life Care Network especially the kind, compassionate and caring nurses and staff in The Village where she lived for the last 18 months. She is survived by her son, Gary A. Antonello of New Canaan, CT, her daughter, Karen Szymanowski and her husband Alex and a granddaughter Karlee Szymanowski of Stamford, CT. She was predeceased by her son John and her husband Leo. Minnie was kind, gentle and selfless with a heart of gold who will forever remain in our hearts and memories. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 6th at 11am at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main St, in New Canaan. Following her burial, a funeral service will follow for Minnie at The United Methodist Church, 165 South Avenue New Canaan. All services will be open to family and friends.
