July 22, 1956 - April 2, 2022
Richard V. D’Arinzo of Stamford, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Stamford Hospital. Richard was a dedicated, thoughtful, generous, and helpful family man and friend to everyone. He will be sorely missed by those he leaves behind. A gifted electrician and builder, Richard was employed by many companies throughout Fairfield and New London County during his nearly 47-year career. He was particularly proud of his advanced electrical systems work on multiple US Navy submarines built at Electric Boat shipyard in Groton, CT during the 1990s, including the USS Seawolf. Forever passionate about amateur and professional sports, Richard enjoyed skiing in Vermont, racquetball and baseball in the park, and brisk ocean swims even when it was too cold for most. He was in attendance at countless family, collegiate, and pro events (Mets and Jets among them). But most of all, Richard loved Formula 1 racing, supporting the international Ferrari team, and even traveling to see some magnificent races in person. An accomplished traveler, Richard particularly enjoyed going where it was warm when the weather turned cold, especially Myrtle Beach, SC and Naples, FL, as well as the quick trip to Vermont or Maine to relax or hang some sheetrock, whatever was called for. Sports cars, classic cars and trucks, motorcycles, old Jeeps with plows, powerboats, lawn equipment, any large engine or small; Richard loved them all. He was always happy to give a ride or chat about one. His enthusiasm was infectious and cannot be understated, and those he leaves behind will miss his informed insight on the latest model or redesign. But most important of all, Richard loved his family. There was nothing Nephew/Uncle/Cousin Rich wouldn’t do for family. Whether it was a driveway to plow, a light switch to fix, or a tree to plant or sell, Richard was there. More recently were his efforts with many uncles, cousins, and friends towards the restoration and expansion of the D’Arinzo family garden which will serve as a testament to his skills, his enthusiasm for preserving the past, and his commitment to those he loved. A 3rd-degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Stamford and dedicated communicant of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Richard found time for God, honored his Italian heritage and family traditions, and cheerfully served his faith community. Richard was the son of the late Josephine and Vincent D’Arinzo. He is survived by his sister Linda Autrey (D’Arinzo) of New London, CT; nephew Jeffrey Autrey and wife Tara Autrey, and great-niece and nephew Ashlyn and Liam Autrey, of Waterford, CT; and by his loving girlfriend, Lina. He is also survived by his aunt Josephine D’Arinzo and aunt Angie Inzitari, both of Darien, CT as well by many, many cousins especially James Ferraro, cousin in name, brother by choice. Our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend will forever ride beside us in our hearts and minds. He will be cheering us on from Paradise. We will see you again, Rich. Rest In Peace. A visitation and celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT on Monday, April 11th from 4pm to 6pm followed by a prayer service. His burial ceremony will be held privately. Donations in his memory may be made to the Holy Spirit Church, Scofield Town Rd, Stamford, American Heart Assn, or to the charity of your choice.
