Santo Sebastian Carta, known as “Ace” and “Sonny”, died peacefully in his home after a long illness. His beloved wife of 58 years, and loving daughters were by his side. Born in Middletown, CT, moved to Stamford, CT as a small child where he lived most of his life on the West Side. He resided in Milford, CT since 1977. An avid fan of the Yankees and all sports especially football. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, going to the Mohegan Sun casino, taking drives in the car, and riding his lawn tractor around the yard. He was happiest when his home was filled with the laughter of his family and many friends whom he loved and adored. He especially loved to cook for everyone on holidays, Sunday dinners, and late night meals. His door was always open and coffee was brewing round the clock. As soon as you walked in, he would ask, "Ya's want something to eat?" His front porch at 72 Fairfield Ave was a gathering place for friends and family. The rocking chairs were always occupied, and the firefighters next door were frequent visitors. He attended Stamford schools and received his Barbers License from Wright Tech. He was a disabled Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Teamster, belonging to Union Local 191. He often worked with family at the Midway Diner owned by his late uncle Tommy Uva, and the Hubba-Hubba owned by his late brother Patsy Carta. He retired from the City of Stamford, Board of Education where he worked as a Head Custodian, spending most of his career at Rippowam and Westhill High schools. He is survived by his beloved wife, Miriam Treat Carta; two daughters, Kelley Carta and her loving partner Mollie Gross and Kim Carta Becker and husband Richard Becker; three sisters, Grace Silvestris and her husband Frank Silvestris, Jean Fuda and her husband, Robert Fuda, and Helen Migliaccio and her husband Frank Migliaccio; and three sister in laws, Judi Carta, Lenore Carta, Rosemary Treat Walsh; and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, several aunts and uncles. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John Sebastian Carta and Philomena Uva Carta; two brothers, Pasquale "Patsy" Carta and Anthony Carta; father in law, Sgt. Det. John "Jack" Treat and mother in law, Rose Petersen Treat; brother in laws, John "Jackie" Treat and Joseph Walsh; and by Honora "Nonie" Daley and James Daley, his wife's great aunt and uncle who treated him as their own son. Family will receive relatives and friendS from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, July 27th at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 28th at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 1 Schuyler Ave, Stamford, CT. His interment will follow to St. John RC Cemetery in Darien, CT.
