Virginia Bellas

April 7, 1931 - October 20, 2015

Virginia (Pagliaro) Bellas of Stamford passed away unexpectedly on October 20 at the age of 84. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Frank Pagliaro and Anna Marie (Rapillo) Pagliaro and was the former wife of the late George N. Bellas. She is survived by three sons, Ronald Bellas and wife Debbie of E. Bridgewater, MA; David Bellas and wife Kathy of Old Lyme, CT; Richard Bellas of Stamford, CT and one daughter, Diane Prunotto and husband John of Stamford, CT; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and two brothers, Frank Pagliaro of Trumbull, CT and Donald Pagliaro and wife Albina of Florida. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her stepmother, Rosemary (Giandonato Pagliaro), her sisters Louisa (Pagliaro) Bevans and Ann (Pagliaro) Williams, and brother Michael (Mickey) Pagliaro. Virginia moved to Stamford in 1973 from Massachusetts and was a devoted member of St. Leo's Parish and a volunteer traditional choir member. She enjoyed their yearly trip to Vermont. She was also an active member of the St Leo's Senior's (previously Treasurerer) and went on many trips with them. She worked part time at the Stamford Hospital years ago and also at the Giftique store. She also belonged to the Chesterfield condominium clubhouse group and she loved to play cards – first in Massachusetts and then in Bridgeport with her sister and cousins and also in Stamford. She loved to feed her family especially spaghetti and meatballs and many different homemade desserts – mostly pies, pumpkin bread and Christmas cookies. She also loved to travel and occasionally won at the casinos. She had a green thumb with her many plants and was a loyal Red Sox fan and boy did she love her red Oldsmobile. Friends and relatives may offer their sympathy and condolences to Virginia's family on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4pm to 8 pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 24th at 10 am at St. Leo R.C. Church, 24 Roxbury Rd., in Stamford. The committal service and interment will immediately follow mass at St. John Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Leo's Parish, 24 Roxbury Rd., Stamford, CT 06902 or to a charity of one's choice. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
