Alice Boiteux Joseph, a beacon of steady love and faith, departed peacefully from this world on September 29, 2024, at the age of 97. Born in La Vallée de Jacmel, Haiti on March 30, 1927, to the late Hypolite Boiteux and Célide Mathurin, Alice’s journey through life was one marked by devotion, generosity, and the nurturing of a large family. Her final days were spent surrounded by the warmth and comfort with niece, Lucca, and last breaths taken with love of her children and grandchildren. Alice's life was a testament to the power of simple and dedicated love. As a wife to the late Leopold Joseph and a mother to a bustling household of 12 children: Soeur Bernadette, Lucie, Marcelle, Francesca, Roger, Aimée, Dominique, Marie Ange, Jopha, Bertin (deceased), Beatrice, and Roberson. She was also a mother-in-law, an aunt, a friend, a counselor to many people. Her legacy is further continued by her twenty-four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren each of whom she adored with every ounce of her being. The last leaf on her family tree, Alice held fond memories of her late siblings, Camy, Thélismene, Adrienne, Joseph, Aurice, Jacques, Francois, all of whom had passed before her. In every smile, every act of kindness, and every prayer, Alice's spirit continues to resonate. With an education that spanned only the elementary years, Alice's wisdom transcended the bounds of formal schooling. She was a housewife by title, but to those who knew her, she was an innovator, a nurturer, and a tireless worker in the vineyard of life. Her home was not just a residence but a sanctuary where values were cultivated, traditions were honored, and life lessons were imparted. She was a woman whose hands were never inactive, as they were either clasped in prayer or extended in service to others. Her involvement in charitable work was not for accolades but born from a genuine desire to uplift and support her La Vallée community. Alice's devout faith was the compass that guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. Her strong commitment to going to church and praying was not merely a routine but a profound expression of her relationship with the Lord. She understood the power of faith to move mountains, heal wounds, and inspire hope. Her belief in the goodness of humanity and the grace of God was infectious, touching all who were blessed to know her. Alice’s courage was evident in every challenge she faced, and she met life's adversities with a grace that inspired everyone around her. The words that best encapsulate Alice are generous, loving, and faith filled. She was a woman who gave without expecting anything in return, loved without boundaries, and lived a life anchored by her faith. Her generosity was not confined to material possessions but was most evident in the time, care, and wisdom she shared. She gave selflessly, always putting the needs of others before her own. Alice's love was a warm embrace that could soften the hardest of hearts, and her faith was a shining light that could brighten the darkest of paths. Her homegoing Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am at The Parish of St. Cecilia-St. Gabriel, 1184 Newfield Avenue in Stamford, CT. Burial will be private.
