Carbina Ann Fano

Born on June 22, 1950, Carbina Ann Fano journeyed through life with grace, kindness, and a love for those around her. Although her life was tragically cut short on February 8, 2024, we reflect on the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Carbina was more than a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was the heart and soul of her family, a woman whose warmth and love touched everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert M. Fano and her parents Anthony J. Longo and Antionette M. Longo. Carbina is survived by three daughters, Dena Zarra and husband Gary, Melissa Dropick and husband John, and Amy Zosiak and husband Kevin, six grandchildren, Caitlyn Zarra, Nicholas Zarra, Bobbie Dropick, Bella Dropick, Ashley Zosiak, and Tyler Zosiak who were the lights of her life. She cherished every moment with them, creating a bond that will endure in their hearts forever. Carbina's love extended to her two sisters and brother, Eleanor Guiffra and husband Felix, Deborah Penn and husband Russell and her brother Salvatore Longo, creating a close-knit family that provided support and comfort throughout the years. In addition to her immediate family, Carbina leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Irene Stahl and husband Fred, Doris Rizzo, and Barbara Finn and husband George. Her love also extended to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends, forming a wide network of connections that reflected the richness of her life. Carbina was born and raised in Greenwich, where she attended Catholic schools, laying the foundation for a life filled with faith, love, and compassion. She met the love of her life and soulmate, Police Officer Robert Fano while working her profession as a hairdresser on Greenwich Avenue as he was directing traffic. After they married and began their life together and started a family, she continued in her profession on a part time basis until her daughters grew up, married and started their own families at which time she retired her scissors to care for her grandchildren. However, she always pulled the scissors out keeping her tradition of doing all of her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews’ first haircuts, as well as, any other family members who requested her services! Her hands were skilled with the scissors, but her heart was even more skilled in making every child’s first haircut very special with photo memorabilia. A dedicated, weekly volunteer at Abilis Gardens and Gifts, Carbina arranged flowers and led various activities with the participants. It delighted her to see their smiley, happy faces as much as it brought great joy to her heart. Carbina demonstrated her commitment to giving back to the community. Her generosity of spirit and willingness to help others endeared her to those who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Carbina's passions in life were diverse, from her love of traveling to her green thumb displayed in her beautiful gardens. The aroma of her baking filled the home with warmth and sweetness, creating a haven for her family and friends. Yet, above all else, her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family, and her loyal maltipoo, Kory. As we bid our final farewell to Carbina, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the moments that made her presence in our lives so special. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration for us all. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the incredible woman she was and the love that will endure in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Mom your light will continue to shine in the traditions and memories you've left behind. The only thing that brings us some comfort is that you are once again with Dad. Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 14th from 4 pm-8 pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT.
