Chrysoula Vakos

Chrysoula Vakos, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2025. She was born in Aion, Greece on January 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Panagiotis and Vasiliki Nikolopoulos. Chrysoula’s life was a beautiful blend of courage, tradition, and boundless love. After immigrating to the United States as a young woman, she met and married the love of her life, Harry Vakos. Though she remained deeply proud of her Greek heritage—speaking the language, cooking treasured family recipes, and upholding the customs she held dear—she was equally proud of the day she became an American citizen. Family was the center of Chrysoula’s world. She cherished every gathering, filling each occasion with warmth, generosity, and her unforgettable smile. Her kindness and humble nature extended to everyone she met, and the love she shared with her family was her greatest joy. Devoted to her faith, Chrysoula also dedicated herself to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where she found comfort, community, and purpose throughout her life. She also delighted in cheering on her beloved New York Yankees, a pastime that brought her much happiness through the years. Above all, Chrysoula was a beloved mom and Yiayia who will be missed beyond words. Her love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family leave behind an incredible legacy that will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. Chrysoula is survived by her children, Bess Morrell & her husband Craig, Paul Vakos & his wife Rhudean, Sophia Antonucci & her husband Ernie, and Peter Vakos & his wife Bebe. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole DiNardo & her husband Dan, Kristy Morrell, Michelle Gallas & her husband Mike, Steven Morrell & his wife Rachel, Shannon Antonucci, & Kelli Reynolds as well as her great-grandchildren, Mason & Lucas DiNardo, and Avery Gallas. Family and friends may call at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, November 28th from 10am to11am for the wake, with the funeral service to follow immediately after. Burial will be at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT.
