Constance Wilson-Johnson

Constance Elaine Wilson–Johnson beloved sister, devoted aunt and friend was called from labor to rest at home in Stamford, CT on February 11, 2025, leaving a void the family cannot fill. Connie, as she was affectionately known, was born on January 3, 1950 to Melville and Erna Haye Wilson in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, WI. She was the fourth of seven children. Connie attended Newstead Primary School and HomeCraft Academy, where she excelled in athletics and developed her master culinary and interior decorating skills. Connie loved the Lord and had a passion for helping people and her community. Connie migrated to the US in the 70’s to join her mother in Stamford and lived there ever since. Connie attended Norwalk Community College, where she earned her CNA certificate and worked at Stamford Hospital, where she completed over 40 years of service. Connie held a variety of positions in nursing and hospital administration. She was a Patient Access Representative before her retirement last year. She was loved respected and cherished by her peers, doctors, nurses and especially her patients. When patients arrived at the hospital, she was respectful, showed compassion, found resources, answered questions, eased their nerves and treated all as if they were the only one. Connie was honored as Employee of the Year in 2007. Connie was Secretary/Treasurer of the West Indian American Social Club where she organized Christmas parties and fundraisers and gift giving for neighborhood kids and in Jamaica. During this time Connie met and married the love of her life, Errol Johnson, in 1985. Even though they did not have any children of their own, she was mother to all of her nieces, nephews, cousins, goddaughters and godsons and all who needed help offering love and support. She never forgot a birthday, graduation, anniversary or wedding and sent care packages to friends and extended family celebrating life events. Connie loved the Lord and was a member of Bethel AME Church, where she and Errol served in the Women’s, Prayer Warriors and Children Ministries as well as organizing cultural events. Connie loved the Lord and possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. With an open heart, a generous spirit, she shared her love with gentle humor and kindness and a genuine warmth. May her legacy live on and serve to glorify our Father in Heaven. The memory of Constance (Connie) Wilson will forever be cherished by her loving family and countless friends. Her wisdom strength, good humor and generosity of spirit will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and her life will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Errol, and her brothers, Wilbert Wilson, Herman March and Earl Harris. Her legacy and fond memories will be treasured by her sisters, Stephanie Harris, Diann Wilson and Eda Wilson (Green), her brothers, Everett Wilson and Trevor Moncrieffe, her aunt Carmen and uncle Lawrence Garvey, brother-in-law, Ron Green, sisters-in law, Mary Wilson, Marcia Johnson and Joan Brownie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th from 9-11am with a prayer service at 11am at Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Avenue, Dairen, CT.
