Edwin Diaz

Edwin Diaz was born on February 23, 1966 in Stamford, CT to the late Pedro, Sr. and Guillermina Garcia Diaz. He passed away on March 5, 2026. Edwin attended Stamford Public Schools. Affectionately known as “Gwenchie”, he was known for his sense of humor. Edwin was a selfless and thoughtful human being, who took time to create special names for those closest to him. For example, when he would see his son, Kishon, he would say, “What’s up, snapper head?” He was very proud of his Latin heritage. Edwin also enjoyed quiet moments when he would read the Torah (which made him feel like the scriptures were clearer) and take long walks in Bridgeport with his four-legged, right-hand man, Legend. Friends will always remember Edwin for his genuine heart and how freely he spoke his mind. He was also the type of person who didn’t hold grudges. The meaning of his name, “Edwin”, is “rich friend” or “prosperous companion”. Yet, those who knew and loved him said they felt rich and prosperous because they were privileged enough to have him in their lives. Remaining family left to cherish his legacy are his two sons, Kishon Edwin Diaz (Jillian) of Bridgeport, CT and Raheen Hall-LaSalle (Gerald), his daughter, A’Nijah Danae Diaz-Jordan of Hartford, CT, his two grandchildren, Karma Evett Diaz and Kishon Edwin Diaz, Jr., both of Fairfield, CT, his brother, Juan Diaz (Tammy) of Zebulon, NC, his brother-in-law, Juan Rosa, Sr., of Bridgeport, CT, his two sisters, Ibeth Diaz and Wanda Diaz of Stamford, CT, his three aunts, Graciela Quiles of Bridgeport, CT, Theresa Rosa-Cruz of Tampa, FL and Jota Garcia of Bronx, NY, a special niece, who was like a sister to him, Tisa Longmine-Jeffreys (Ronnie) of Bridgeport, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends. Edwin was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters, Sarita Diaz and Maritza Rosa, his three brothers, Pedro Diaz, Jr., Edgardo Diaz and Miguel Angel Diaz. Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm on Friday, March 20th at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Prayer Service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home.
