Henri Duquene

Henri Duquéné was born on March 4, 1952 in Desdunes, Haiti. He was the first of eight children born to Immacula and Joseph Duquéné. Even as a young man Henri showed himself to be a serious individual. This became more evident at the time of his father’s passing. As his brother André relates, at that time, Henri stepped up and really ‘became a father’ figure to his younger brothers and sisters. He met his life-long sweetheart, Marie Solette and they were married on July 4, 1981. Together they raised three children: Ruth, Henri Caleb and Florence Esther. His life was blessed. As a young man Henri studied Agriculture as a Technician at the Damien Educational Institute in Port-Au-Prince. He later went on to study accounting. He then worked at Care International in Haiti as an inspector. Henri was a diligent, hardworking man, a man of integrity, respected by all his associates. In 2001 he moved his family to the US settling in Stamford, CT. He then began a career in Customer Care working at the family grocery market for his brother Andre. His face and smile became well known in the community. It was while he was in Port-Au-Prince in the mid 1970’s that Henri’s life took an important change. He began to personally study the Bible. To his joy he learned that God has a name and that he could enter into a personal relationship with that God, Jehovah. So, on August 30, 1975 he dedicated his life to God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Henri was a faithful servant of Jehovah God who he loved with all his heart. He served as an elder for more than 30 years. He took his responsibility as an elder seriously, being generous with his time, always ready to listen and lend a helping hand. He was like a father to many. He was the epitome of what the Bible says in Psalms 41:1, showing consideration and compassion to others. He loved everyone. He was a good friend and always able to make others laugh. Henri zealously preached the word of God regarding a paradise on earth where humans will live forever in peace without pain, sickness or death. (Revelation 21:3, 4) Henri was known as a devoted family man, showing deep love for his mother, his siblings, his wife and children as well as all of his nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, his attachment to his wife being so strong that they are always seen together, shopping and even going to regular doctor visits together. Many observed that they were often seen walking, holding hands. They were truly an example of what love and marriage should be. If one wished to see an example of what the Bible describes as a couple being “one flesh” (Mark 10:9) then that was Henri and Solette. Henri was preceded in death by his father, Joseph. He is survived by his mother, Immacula, his wife of more than 38 years and their children; his brothers, Andre, Piervil, Ceramy and Dieugrand; his sisters, Agretta Guillaume, Henriette Duquéné and Cherisna Valon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Due to current CDC Federal guidelines in keeping with public safety standards, the family is holding a Private Visitation and Prayer Service on Monday, April 27th at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
