Irma Richmond

In the words of Apostle Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith." Irma laid down her sword and kneeled at the throne on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. We will mourn the home going of our beloved mother, sister and friend--yet understand that Soeur Irma has earned a well-deserved rest. Irma passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 80 years old, born on January 25, 1940 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Lauresia Georges and Antoine Richmond. In 1977, she relocated from Haiti to the United States residing in Brooklyn, New York. In 1981, she moved to Stamford, Connecticut. Irma was fortunate to find employment at Diecasting and GE. Irma worked very hard and eventually sent for her children. Her last place of employment was with Sheraton Hotel (previously known as the Tara Hotel) where she dedicated over 24 years of her life. Her great talents included being a great cook and a true homemaker--her home was always in order. Having worked as a Seamstress in Haiti, Irma was very stylish you would always see her with her beautiful head wraps and her sunglasses. She enjoyed dancing to her favorite songs. Her faith was strong in the Lord, she was always offering to pray with you and lift you up during your times of tribulation--she was a true prayer warrior-- you would often hear her reciting her rosary religiously. Her love and respect for The Virgin Mary inspired her love for the color blue, especially light blue. She was a devoted member of the Basilica of Saint John Evangelist Church, serving as a member for over 36 years. Left to cherish her memory are her 7 children Kettly Amboise (Yves), Carline Benjamin (Guy Eustache), Gina Orion, Jacques Orion, Marjorie Orion, Jean Michel Richmond and Magalie Paulemon. Irma was proud to be a grandmother to a total of fourteen (14) grandchildren; Yvelyne, Lorene, Katia, Kevin, Cassandra, Geraldine (Wilfred), Hugmar, Samantha (Jose), Sabrina, Zaria, Christopher, Bree, Jeremiah, Jemarlee, and sixteen (16) great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her siblings Alphonse Georges (MA), Micheline Bernard (NY), Kesner Richmond (FL), Jude Richmond (NY). She was predeceased by her husband Denis Orion and her children, Evelyne and Pierre Garry and by her siblings, Yves, Marie Rose, Andre, Tony and Karen. Irma cherishes her friendship with her Sisters-in-Christ, Soeur Luciannie, Soeur Cecile Allia Dorival, and Ms. Bernadette Mahotiere. Manman has left us but Manman is not gone. She will remain with us forever. Irma will truly be missed by all the people she has touched. Exodus 33:14 My presence will go with you and I will give you rest. Her family welcomes all friends and relatives on Friday, December 18th from 5pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 19th at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, in Stamford. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. 66 Woodland Place, in Stamford.
