Joseph Christopher Mangano

Joseph C. Mangano, 26, lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Joey, as he was affectionately known, was born April 19, 1988 to Wendy Bello Mangano and Dominick (Cosmo) Mangano. Joey was a loving and caring father to his daughter, Sophie, and a dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved the game of baseball and excelled at the game his entire life. Joey pitched in the 2004 16 year old Babe Ruth World Series for Stamford, as well as for teams in the 16-18 Babe Ruth league, at Rockland College, and at Western Connecticut University where he earned All Mid-Hudson honors for his play in the 2007 season. Joey worked for the City of Stamford for 4 years, and was currently employed by TDEV Construction Services. In addition to his family and friends, Joey’s love for life included dancing with his daughter Sophie, jet skiing, the N.Y. Giants and Yankees, and motorcycles. He recently went on a motorcycle trip to Laconia, NH with his Dad and Uncle Jimbo and loved to have the time to ride along side of them. Everyone who knew Joey loved him. He had a way of touching people’s hearts and he will be missed and never forgotten. Joey is survived by his loving mother, Wendy Bello Mangano, his beloved father, Dominick (Cosmo) Mangano, his precious daughter, Sophie Mangano, two sisters; Erika and Nikki Mangano, and his girlfriend, Alexis (Lulu) Kelly. He also leaves his grandparents; John and Sherry Bello, and Judy Bello, his aunt, Anne Marie (M) Mangano, uncle, John C. Bello (Sandra), and cousins; Anthony and Julian Bello and Joe Marino. Joey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Barbara Mangano and great-grandparents, Angelo and Stella Bello. The Mangano family will receive the sympathy and condolences of friends and family on Wednesday, October 1st from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Street, in Stamford, on the morning of Thursday, October 2nd at 10 a.m. The interment and committal service will immediately follow mass at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, in Stamford.
