Maria Romero

Summarizing the life of a person who dedicated herself to doing good is no easy task. There is so much to say, yet words often fall short when trying to describe a life guided by love, faith, and service. Throughout every stage of her life, María Romero shared the Word of God — not only through her words but most importantly through her daily example. She was a deeply loved woman, affectionately known as “Coco”, who carried Jesus in her heart at all times and reflected His light in everything she did. Born on March 30, 1963, to Mexican parents, María del Rosario Parga Mejía and José Santos Sandoval Sandoval, she was raised with strong faith and devotion to our Lord. The eldest of four siblings, María faced the painful loss of her beloved father at a young age. She always admired her mother’s courage and strength in raising the family with love and perseverance. Despite life’s challenges, María never stopped longing to know Jesus more deeply. She arrived in Stamford, CT, planning to stay for just fifteen days, but God’s plan was different. There she met Lucas Romero, her life and faith companion, with whom she chose to walk for the rest of her days — sharing the same desire to serve the Lord and supporting one another faithfully. María was also a dedicated and hardworking member of her community. She served the Stamford Public Schools for many years, working at Roxbury Elementary School, Davenport Elementary School, and Westhill High School, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and joyful spirit. Her faith extended beyond her home and work. María devoted her time and heart to serving several parishes throughout Fairfield County, CT, including Saint Mary – Greenwich, Saint Mary – Stamford, Sacred Heart – Stamford, and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Koinonía - Bridgeport, where she shared her gifts, her voice, and her unwavering faith in the Lord. Her life was a constant testimony of love, dedication, and service. In her desire to grow spiritually, she joined the Koinonia Community, where she found faith, fellowship, and gratitude. She always thanked God for allowing her to be part of such a beautiful community that she cherished so deeply. Today, we say farewell to María “Coco” Romero with hearts full of love and hope, trusting that her soul rests in the peace of the Lord she so faithfully served. Her light, her faith, and her example will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her. Hay tanto que decir, que las palabras parecen quedarse cortas ante el testimonio de una vida guiada por el amor, la fe y el servicio. En cada etapa de su vida, María Romero supo dar a conocer la Palabra de Dios no solo con sus palabras, sino con su ejemplo diario. Fue una mujer profundamente querida, conocida con cariño como “Coco”, que llevó a Jesús en su corazón en todo momento y reflejó Su luz en cada acción. Hija de padres mexicanos, nació el 30 de marzo de 1963, fruto del amor de María del Rosario Parga Mejía y José Santos Sandoval Sandoval, quienes le inculcaron desde temprana edad la fe en nuestro Señor. Fue la mayor de cuatro hermanos y, desde muy joven, enfrentó con entereza la dolorosa pérdida de su amado padre. Siempre admiró la fortaleza de su madre, quien con amor y valentía sacó adelante a su familia. A pesar de las dificultades, María nunca dejó de anhelar conocer más profundamente a Jesús. Llegó a Stamford con la intención de permanecer solo quince días, pero el plan de Dios fue diferente. Allí conoció a Lucas Romero, su compañero de vida y de fe, con quien decidió caminar el resto de sus días, compartiendo el mismo deseo de servir al Señor y apoyándose mutuamente en todo momento. María también fue una mujer trabajadora y dedicada a su comunidad. Sirvió durante muchos años en las Escuelas Públicas de Stamford, donde trabajó en Roxbury Elementary School, Davenport Elementary School y Westhill High School, siendo recordada por su amabilidad, compasión y espíritu alegre. Su fe trascendió el ámbito familiar y laboral. María entregó su tiempo y su corazón al servicio en varias parroquias del Condado de Fairfield, Connecticut, incluyendo Saint Mary – Greenwich, Saint Mary – Stamford, Sacred Heart – Stamford, y Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish – Koinonía – Bridgeport donde compartió sus dones, su voz y su inquebrantable fe en el Señor. Su vida fue un testimonio constante de entrega, amor y servicio. En su anhelo de crecer espiritualmente, se unió a la Comunidad de Koinonía, donde encontró un espacio de fe, hermandad y gratitud. Siempre vivió agradecida con Dios por haberle permitido formar parte de esta bella comunidad que tanto amó. Hoy, despedimos a María “Coco” Romero con el corazón lleno de amor y esperanza, sabiendo que su alma descansa en la paz del Señor, a quien tanto amó y sirvió con devoción. La familia recibirá a sus familiares y amigos el miércoles 29 de octubre, de 16:00 a 20:00 h, en la Funeraria y Crematorio Bosak, ubicada en Shippan Avenue 453, Stamford, CT.
