Mary Anne Obuchowski

Mary Anne (O’Brien) Obuchowski born on February 8, 1946, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Theresa O’Brien. Mary Anne was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Gerald Obuchowski and is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Travis) Sclafani, her son, Daniel (Michele) Obuchowski, and her stepdaughter, Geraldine (Steven) Toscano. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, John (Kristi) Obuchowski, Anthony (Karime) Toscano, Nicholas Toscano, Victoria Umbro-Sclafani, Dominic Umbro-Sclafani, Adriana Sclafani and Daniella Obuchowski, as well as three great grandchildren, Kylie Genest, Jazelle Velez, and Mia Obuchowski. Mary Anne grew up in Eastchester, NY and graduated from Eastchester High School in 1963. She worked as a secretary or administrative assistant for various companies including the Town of Tuckahoe before taking a few years off to spend with her son until he started school. Once Dan started school, Mary Anne was employed by the Town of Darien for 17 years in several positions in the Tax Assessor’s office before retiring from her position as Tax Assessor in 2004. Mary Anne loved her family more than words could ever express and was always willing to do anything for those she cared about. Throughout her life, she made sure her home was a welcoming place—not just for her children, but for their friends as well. As her children were growing up, it was rare for an evening to pass without a friend or two joining them for dinner. Even after her children moved out, the neighborhood kids would still come by for a snack or scoop of ice cream. Mary Anne's greatest joy in life was spoiling her grandchildren, who she made feel very special. They all loved her so much and cherished the time they got to spend with Gram. She also loved reading, scary movies, celebrating Christmas, decorating her home for every holiday and, of course, shopping—especially at the Christmas Tree Shoppe. In recent years, she cherished outings with her friends and cousin, whether it was for lunch, shopping, going to the casino, or getting their nails done together.
