Rafael C. Valdez

Rafael Clodomiro Valdez, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2024 with his family by his side at the age of 72. Born on February 2, 1952 in Los Corozos, Dominican Republic, Rafael aka "Chiche" is one of 12 children born to Clodomiro and Luisa Valdez. Rafael married the love of his life, Ramona A. Valdez, on August 18, 1984 and together raised their 3 children: Michel, Maciel, and Elvis. He immigrated to the United States in 1986 where he went on to work for the city of Stamford in the Parks & Rec. department for over 20 years. His life was defined by his compassion and service to others. Serving as a resource to those that surrounded him, propelled him to become a pillar within the Hispanic community and share his wisdom, sense of humor, and infectious smile. His generosity was a testament to his love of people where he helped provide for family members, friends, and build a church in his hometown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ramona; his three children, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by 10 siblings. He was predeceased by parents Clodomiro and Luisa Valdez, and sister Sulema Valdez. Nacido el 2 de febrero de 1952 en Los Corozos, República Dominicana. Rafael alias "Chiche" es uno de los 12 hijos de Clodomiro y Luisa Valdez. Rafael se casó con el amor de su vida, Ramona A. Valdez, el 18 de agosto de 1984 y juntos criaron a sus 3 hijos: Michel, Maciel y Elvis. Emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1986, donde pasó a trabajar para la ciudad de Stamford en el departamento de Parks & Rec. desde hace más de 20 años. Su vida estuvo definida por su compasión y servicio a los demás. Servir como recurso para quienes lo rodeaban lo impulsó a convertirse en un pilar dentro de la comunidad hispana y compartir su sabiduría, sentido del humor y sonrisa contagiosa. Su generosidad fue un testimonio de su amor por las personas, donde ayudó a mantener a familiares y amigos y a construir una iglesia en su ciudad natal. Le sobreviven su amada esposa durante 40 años, Ramona; sus tres hijos y dos nietos. También le sobreviven 10 hermanos. Fallecieron antes que sus padres Clodomiro y Luisa Valdez, y su hermana Sulema Valdez.
