Zelda Icylin Walters

Zelda Icylin Walters of Wilton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family. Zelda was born on April 30, 1932, in Tower Hill, in the Parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies. Zelda and her husband Vincent K. Walters met in Jamaica in 1953. After immigrating to the United States in 1970, she lived for 25 years in Stamford, Connecticut and later retired with her husband Vincent to Hernando, Florida for 17 years. Upon her return to Connecticut, she lived with her youngest daughter Debbie and her family in Stamford and Wilton. Zelda worked for 18 years at Smith House Nursing Home as a Dietary Aide before retiring. Zelda was a loyal friend to many, who will miss her very much. She was a devoted Catholic parishioner at St. John's Church in Stamford and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, Florida. Routinely volunteering and participating in church activities and mass. Zelda loved to cook and was the best along with her husband. Every Sunday she would play gospel and country music. She had a wonderful sense of humor and told the best jokes that her children have never forgotten. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Vincent Walters and her seven children, Mervine (Brenda) Goulbourne, Cleveland Madden, Valerie Johnson and Alberto Johnson (son-in-law), Gregory Walters, Sr. and Demetria Green Walters (daughter-in-law), Lloyd Walters, Sr., Michael Walters and Marilyn Walters (daughter-in-law), and Debbie Walters-Francique and Dean Francique (son-in-law). She was grandmother to Angela Madden, Steve Goulbourne, Kevin Goulbourne, Ainsley Goulbourne, Jason Madden, Heather Madden, Alexis Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Dana Johnson-Chernet, Othello Johnson, Gregory Walters, Jr., Kelly Walters, Colin Walters, Sean Walters, Siedah Walters-Morgan, Lloyd Walters, Jr., Vincent J. Walters, Victoria Walters, Devyn Francique, and Drew Francique. She leaves 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren,12 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Zelda is predeceased by her parents, Harold Madden and Estella Davis-Madden, Gwendolyn Pinock (sister), Alfonzo Hall (brother), Clara Thomas (sister), Linford Madden (brother), Doris Madden (sister), Jennie Roy (sister), grandson Ian Madden and granddaughter Daria Francique. Her family meant everything to her, and the sacrifices she made for them will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on forever within them.
